Description
Shimano Dura-Ace C50 Wheelset – the all-round race wheel
The Shimano Dura-Ace C50 wheelset is the wheel most of Shimano’s pro riders reach for first. It balances low weight, stiffness and aerodynamics for every kind of road race. At 1,302 g a pair, it is 159 g lighter than the Dura-Ace R9270 C50 it replaces. Yet the 50 mm rim also tests 6% more aerodynamic than before, after more than 5.4 million shape simulations. In short, it climbs well and it holds speed on the flat.
Carbon spokes are the big change for 2026. Shimano uses 21 in the front and 21 in the rear, in mixed diameters. So the wheel stays stiff in sprints and fast corners. The hubs are new too. They use cup-and-cone bearings, which any good mechanic can service and adjust. Plus, the rear hub has a direct-engagement freehub, so the wheel picks up the moment you press on the pedals.

Who is the Dura-Ace C50 wheelset for?
Riders who want one wheelset for everything: club racing, long bunch rides and hilly days. If you mostly climb, the lighter Dura-Ace C36 makes sense. If you mostly sprint or time trial, look at the C60. All three share the same hubs, rim width and tubeless design. So you can also mix depths front and rear.
What’s in the box
First, choose a front wheel, a rear wheel, or the pair. Every wheel also comes with a tubeless valve. The price does not include tyres, disc rotors or a cassette. Also, each wheel runs tubeless or with a tube.
