The Scott Scale Gravel 30 is the alloy entry point to the Scale Gravel range. It keeps the rigid carbon fork and the 29×2.4in Maxxis Aspen tyres. So the ride quality stays closer to its carbon siblings than the price suggests.
Scott Scale Gravel 30 – alloy value, rigid carbon fork
Shimano Deore gives dependable 12-speed shifting with a 10-51T spread. Because the frame uses a UDH interface, replacing a hanger is simple anywhere in the world. Syncros alloy components and hydraulic disc brakes complete a hard-wearing build.
Key Features
- Scale Alloy 6061 Custom Butted Frame
- Scale Rigid HMF Carbon Fork
- Shimano Deore 12 Speed Drivetrain
- Shimano Hydraulic Disc Brakes
- Alex Rims X-30S Tubeless Ready Rims
- Maxxis Aspen 29×2.4″ Foldable Tires
- Syncros Alloy Components
The 30 uses a custom butted 6061 alloy frame rather than carbon. So the price comes down while the shape, the fittings and the UDH hanger interface stay the same. Because the fork is still rigid HMF carbon, the front end keeps its precision.
A small hatch under the downtube cover opens straight into the frame. So a mechanic can route or replace a cable without pulling the bottom bracket out. It sounds minor until the first time you need it.
The dropouts are hollow, so the axle head clamps against the inner face and finishes flush with the outside. That saves 7.5 grams on its own. It also lets Scott build a narrower rear end, which keeps the back of the bike looking as clean as the front.
There is no suspension here, and that is the point. The rigid HMF carbon fork keeps the weight down and the steering direct. So every watt goes into the ground rather than into a bobbing shock.
Both wheels run 29×2.4in rubber, tubeless ready out of the box. So you can drop the pressure and let the tyre do the damping. Plus the extra volume turns rough fire road into something you can carry speed across.

Custom Butted Alloy Frame
The Scale Gravel 30 runs a 6061 alloy frame with custom butted tubing. Wall thickness changes along each tube, so it is thicker at the welds where loads concentrate and thinner through the middle where they do not. As a result the frame holds its shape under power without carrying weight it does not need, which is what keeps this build sharp at its price.
Service Door
A small service door sits under a cover on the downtube and opens straight into the frame interior. So rerouting a cable or chasing a rattle does not mean pulling the bottom bracket out first. It is a minor detail on paper, but it saves real workshop time over the life of the bike.
Hollow Dropout Construction
The dropouts are built hollow, so the axle head clamps against the inner face and finishes flush with the outside surface. That keeps the rear end narrow and tidy, and it lets the whole rear triangle be slimmed down without giving up stiffness.
