Why the Scott Foil RC Frameset Stands Out

Scott designed the Foil RC for WorldTour sprinters, attackers and breakaway riders, and its promise is simple: aero, lightweight or comfort, choose three. Scott’s F01 airfoil tube shapes, dropped seatstays and an oversized head tube that acts as a fairing all help the bike cut through the air. At the same time, the frame is light enough for climbing days.

Comfort comes from the Syncros Duncan SL Aero CFT seatpost. Its carbon front section flexes over rough roads, so you stay seated and keep putting power through the pedals on broken tarmac or cobbles. In addition, the head tube hides the cables for both mechanical and electronic shifting, which keeps the front end clean and fast.

HMX or HMX SL: Choosing Your Foil RC Frameset

The main difference between the framesets is the carbon. HMX is Scott’s high-modulus race carbon, used on the Foil RC Pro frameset. HMX SL is Scott’s lightest and stiffest grade, used on the Foil RC Ultimate. As a result, the Ultimate frameset saves weight while keeping the same aero shapes and geometry. If you are building a race bike on a budget, the Pro is great value. Meanwhile, if you want the lightest possible Foil, choose the Ultimate.

Sizing and Geometry

The Foil RC uses Scott’s race geometry across seven sizes, from XXS/47 to XXL/61. For example, a size M/54 has a reach of 389 mm, a stack of 548 mm, a 72.5° head angle and 412 mm chainstays, while a size L/56 has a reach of 394.5 mm and a stack of 568 mm. Building Your Scott Foil RC Frameset

A frameset lets you choose every part. Many riders pair the Foil RC with an electronic groupset such as Shimano Di2, deep carbon wheels and an integrated aero cockpit.
