Description

Cannondale Topstone CAAD 2 – aluminium gravel bike (2027)

The Cannondale Topstone CAAD 2 is the workhorse of Cannondale’s new aluminium gravel range. It brings the same SmartForm C1 alloy frame and full carbon fork as the CAAD 1 models, with tough Shimano CUES 1×11 shifting and 45mm WTB tyres.

Also, the Topstone CAAD is brand new for 2027. It is built on Cannondale’s CAAD alloy know-how, so it feels light and lively but stays tough enough for daily use. This one comes in Black.

Topstone CAAD 2 key features

  • SmartForm C1 aluminium frame, backed by Cannondale’s limited lifetime frame warranty
  • Shimano CUES U6000 1×11 drivetrain with a 40T chainring and an 11-50 LinkGlide cassette – built for durability and easy upkeep
  • Full carbon fork with mounts, internal dynamo routing and a 55mm OutFront offset
  • GXD 1.0 wheels with WTB Vulpine 700x45c tubeless-ready tyres
  • Cannondale 3 alloy cockpit with a 16-degree flared bar for control on loose ground
  • Room for up to 52mm tyres in the frame and 56mm in the fork

Why the Topstone CAAD 2 stands out

First, the frame. Cannondale uses custom-butted and shaped alloy tubes with smooth welds, so the ride feels refined rather than harsh. Plus, the carbon fork trims weight and takes the sting out of corrugations.

Then there is the handling. OutFront Steering Geometry pairs a slack head angle with a longer fork offset. As a result, the bike stays calm at speed but still turns quickly on tight trails.

It is also built to carry. There are mounts for bottles, bags, racks and mudguards, plus a hidden kickstand mount. Meanwhile, standard parts such as a threaded BSA bottom bracket, UDH hanger and 27.2mm seatpost keep servicing simple. The frame is even ready for a Lefty Oliver suspension fork later on.

Who is it for?

So it suits riders who want one capable bike for weekday commutes, weekend gravel and everything in between. Also, CUES parts are made to last and are cheap to replace, which keeps running costs down.

Want lighter, faster shifting? Then step up to the Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 1x or the Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 2x. See every model in our Cannondale Topstone range or browse all gravel bikes.
