SILCA Secret Chain Blend is a hot melt chain wax that gives you a clean, quiet and fast drivetrain. It is the same wax we use in our own waxing tank at Port Melbourne Cycles. So if you would rather wax your chains at home, this is the bag to buy.
The blend mixes four high-grade paraffin waxes with nano-scale tungsten disulfide. As a result, it does more than lubricate. The particles fill the tiny gaps in the chain’s surface, so a waxed chain actually gets smoother over repeated waxes. Also, wax does not pick up grit the way oil does, which means less mess and much longer chain and cassette life.

How to use SILCA Secret Chain Blend
First, strip every trace of factory grease from a new chain. Then melt the wax in a slow cooker or a sous vide bag in warm water. Next, soak the chain until it stops bubbling, lift it out and hang it to cool. Finally, flex the links once it is hard and refit it. Never leave the wax unattended on the stove.
