Description

Cannondale Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 1x – aluminium gravel bike (2027)

The Cannondale Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 1x is the premium 1x drop-bar build in Cannondale’s new aluminium gravel range. It pairs a SmartForm C1 alloy frame with a full carbon fork, Shimano GRX 610 1×12 shifting and fast 45mm WTB tyres.

Also, the Topstone CAAD is brand new for 2027. It is built on Cannondale’s CAAD alloy know-how, so it feels light and lively but stays tough enough for daily use. This one comes in Wine Red.

Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 1x key features

  • SmartForm C1 aluminium frame, backed by Cannondale’s limited lifetime frame warranty
  • Shimano GRX 610 1×12 drivetrain with a 40T chainring and a 10-51 cassette – one shifter, no front mech, huge range
  • Full carbon fork with mounts, internal dynamo routing and a 55mm OutFront offset
  • WTB ST i25 TCS tubeless-ready wheels with WTB Vulpine 700x45c tyres
  • Cannondale C1 Conceal stem for a clean, integrated front end, plus a computer mount for Garmin, Wahoo or Hammerhead
  • Room for up to 52mm tyres in the frame and 56mm in the fork

Why the Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 1x stands out

First, the frame. Cannondale uses custom-butted and shaped alloy tubes with smooth welds, so the ride feels refined rather than harsh. Plus, the carbon fork trims weight and takes the sting out of corrugations.

Then there is the handling. OutFront Steering Geometry pairs a slack head angle with a longer fork offset. As a result, the bike stays calm at speed but still turns quickly on tight trails.

It is also built to carry. There are mounts for bottles, bags, racks and mudguards, plus a hidden kickstand mount. Meanwhile, standard parts such as a threaded BSA bottom bracket, UDH hanger and 27.2mm seatpost keep servicing simple. The frame is even ready for a Lefty Oliver suspension fork later on.

Who is it for?

So it suits riders who want a simple, quiet drivetrain for fast gravel, mixed-surface loops and long days exploring. Also, with only one chainring, there is less to adjust, less to clean and less to go wrong far from home.

Prefer closer gear steps for road-heavy rides? Then look at the Topstone CAAD 1 GRX 2x. On a tighter budget? The Topstone CAAD 2 CUES 1x keeps the same frame and carbon fork. See every model in our Cannondale Topstone range or browse all gravel bikes.
