The Basso SV is Basso’s aero all-rounder. SV stands for Sempre Veloce, Italian for “always fast”. Launched in January 2025, it brings race-bike speed to everyday riders, with a lighter frame, a smaller frontal area and more comfort than the Diamante SV that came before it.
Why the Basso SV is different
Basso doesn’t supply a WorldTour team, so it designed the SV around real customers rather than pro racers. It worked with the 4Performance bike-fit studio on the geometry. As a result, the SV has a higher stack and a sloping frame, so more riders can get comfortable without giving up speed.
- 780 g frame (size 53, claimed), made from Toray T1100 and T1000 carbon
- 16% smaller frontal area than the Diamante SV, with Kammtail tube shapes
- Room for 35 mm tyres on a 25 mm rim
- 3B Clamp Gen II – a hidden seat clamp with a rubber damper that takes the sting out of rough roads
- Two integrated cockpits – the aero Fuga bar or the classic Levita, in 16 bar and stem sizes
- Seven sizes, from 45 to 61
Who is the Basso SV for?
The SV suits fast group riders, gran fondo riders and former racers who want speed without an extreme position. Reviewers praise its light, snappy feel and comfort. However, it isn’t the stiffest pure race bike, so sprinters chasing every watt may prefer the Basso Diamante.
