The Basso Diamante is the bike that best sums up Basso. Diamante is Italian for “diamond”, and it is Basso’s longest-running model. First released around 2000, it is now in its eighth generation, launched at Eurobike 2022.

Why ride the Basso Diamante?

The latest Diamante is built to climb and descend. Basso cut more than 200 g from the frame, which now weighs a claimed 760 g (size 53). Also, its round tubes are more than a style choice. At the bottom bracket and head tube, round sections let Basso use thinner, lighter walls while adding torsional stiffness, so your effort goes straight into the road.

  • Claimed 760 g frame in Toray 40T and 30T carbon
  • Round-tube design for stiffness and a classic look
  • Room for 32 mm tyres and fully internal cable routing
  • Levita one-piece carbon cockpit, in 13 sizes
  • Race geometry refined for stable, precise handling on fast descents

Who is the Basso Diamante for?

The Diamante suits riders who want a light, pure race bike for long climbs and quick descents, rather than an aero bike. Reviewers love its sharp but predictable handling and stiff, responsive feel. However, its long, low front end suits flexible riders best. If you want a taller position, look at the Basso SV or the Basso Astra.
