The Basso Astra is Basso’s endurance road bike. The Astra name has been part of Basso’s range for well over a decade. The current version arrived in early 2023, with a taller front end, relaxed geometry and more tyre clearance than before.

Why ride the Basso Astra?

Basso based the Astra’s geometry on its classic steel bikes. So it keeps a lively, racy feel, but it is calmer and more comfortable over long days. Plus, it takes tyres up to 35 mm wide, which lets you explore rougher roads and light gravel.

  • Claimed 980 g carbon frame, made in Italy
  • Room for 35 mm tyres
  • Endurance geometry with a taller stack and a slightly shorter reach
  • Hidden 3B seat clamp and a flattened carbon seatpost for comfort
  • Levita integrated carbon cockpit on the Ultegra Di2 build
  • Seven sizes, from 45 to 61

Who is the Basso Astra for?

Basso designed the Astra for riders who love performance but aren’t full-time athletes. It suits group rides, gran fondos, long weekend loops and the odd gravel detour. BikeRadar liked its considered geometry, tyre clearance and fun, race-like handling. If you want more outright speed, compare it with the Basso SV.
